Callahan Named Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Paul Murphy, Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation announced that Susan Callahan has been named Head Coach of Men's and Women's Tennis. Callahan is no stranger to the Immaculata tennis program having spent the past two seasons as an Assistant Coach under former Coach Scott McTigue and was a member of the Immaculata women's team as a player.

"We are very pleased to have one of our own take over the reins of our tennis program" described Paul Murphy. "Susan was an outstanding player at IU and has been a valued assistant coach with the program. We are excited to see her in this new role and have nothing but confidence that she will continue the winning tradition."

During her time as a player with the Immaculata women's team, Callahan posted 37 career wins averaging double-digit wins for her entire career. She earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles to help Immaculata clinch the Atlantic East Conference Championship in 2019 against Gwynedd Mercy in the finals. She was twice named First Team All-Conference in singles and was named second-team all-Conference in doubles in the same years.

In her two years as an Assistant Coach, Callahan helped lead the Mighty Macs women's team to consecutive appearances in the Atlantic East Conference Finals and helped the men's team reach the finals in 2022. She was a member of the 2023 Atlantic East Conference Women's Coaching Staff of the Year with Immaculata.

"Being a part of the Immaculata tennis program as both a player and an assistant coach, I am very excited to take on the role as the Head coach for the Men and Women's Tennis teams," said Callahan. "I am eager to begin this upcoming season with not only the returning players but welcoming the incoming athletes to the team. I look forward to this transition and leading the team into a successful season!"

Callahan earned her Bachelor of Science degrees from Immaculata University in Exercise Science and Nursing.
