WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball Head Coach Terry Evans has announced his resignation after five seasons in Weatherford.

Coach Evans became head coach of the Bulldogs in March of 2018 and the 2022-23 season was his fifth as head coach at SWOSU. During his tenure, Evans guided the Dawgs to a 2022 Great American Conference Tournament Championship – the first conference championship in SWOSU's decade-long membership in the league. That 2021-22 team qualified for the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in SWOSU's Division II history.

"I want to thank all of my former and current SWOSU players, coaches, and staff for allowing me to be part of Bulldog Nation these past five-plus years," said Evans. "I enjoyed my time in Weatherford but need to step away from coaching right now to address family medical concerns. God said it's time to help family and others."   

Evans continued. "I also want to thank all of the SWOSU administration, my fellow coaches in the athletic department, and the fans for all of the support over the years."

Evans, who has coached in the state of Oklahoma for nearly 30 years overall, holds a collegiate coaching record of 314-206 (.604) between 13 years at Central Oklahoma (UCO) and his time at SWOSU. As a high school coach, he won a combined four OSSAA State Championships at Midwest City and Edmond North. His full coaching bio can be found here.

The search for the next head men's basketball coach at SWOSU will begin immediately.
