Madison, NJ (June 23)- FDU-Florham Head Men's Basketball and Golf Coach Jeff Slanovec will be stepping down from his positions to accept a role in the Office of College Advancement at Dickinson College. A search for his successor will be conducted immediately.

"I would like to thank Jeff Slanovec for his last five years at FDU as a coach and a mentor for our student-athletes and colleagues in the FDU Devils Athletic Department." Co-interim Athletic Director Kristin Giotta said. "He has worked tirelessly to propel our golf outing forward and deserves every bit of this next opportunity at Dickinson. We wish him nothing but the best in his new chapter."

Slanovec spent five seasons as both the Head Men's Basketball and Golf coaches after being hired by the University in 2018.

During his time at FDU-Florham, he coached five players on to the All-MAC Freedom team in basketball including two first-team selections and led the Devil to two MAC Freedom playoff appearances. During his first season at the helm of FDU, the Devils won seven games, doubling their win total from the previous season while also breaking team program records in three-pointers made (224) and free throw percentage (74.5%). In 2019-20, he coached the Devils to their first playoff appearance since 2013-14 and earned MAC Freedom Coach of the Year that season.

In the classroom, Slanovec's student-athletes appeared on the MAC Academic Honor Roll 24 times, the NABC Honor Roll six times, had one Academic All-MAC selections and his basketball team also earned an NABC team academic award in 2021-22.

"While I am excited for my next opportunity at Dickinson, it's very bittersweet to be leaving FDU." Stated Jeff Slanovec. "To all of my players, past and current, thanks for your dedication and effort that you put into growing the program. To our incredible alumni base, thank you for your constant support these past five years.

Jeff was also very active in the department as the Director of the Robert T. Shields Athletics' Golf Outing. The Robert T. Shields Athletics' Golf Outing serves as the primary fundraiser for the FDU-Florham Athletic Department to enhance the student athlete experience. Under his direction, he created the Shields/Devils Athletics Golf Outing Committee, which included members of athletic administration, other head coaches as well as athletic alumni of FDU and helped sell out the golf outing foursome spots each of the last three years.

"It was my childhood dream to become a college basketball coach and I'm forever grateful to Jenn Noon for turning my dream into a reality." Slanovec said. "It was an honor to be the Head Coach of the men's basketball and golf programs here at FDU the last five years and I'll always be thankful for my time as a Devil."
