STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point athletics department will increase to 26 varsity sports in 2024-25 with the addition of a men's soccer program Director of Athletics Brad Duckworth announced Tuesday (June 20.)
 
"The addition of men's soccer provides another opportunity to give even more students the Pointer experience," said Duckworth.  "Our administration continues to receive strong interest in the sport and I am thrilled to move men's soccer forward.  Chancellor and his cabinet recognize the value in intercollegiate athletics and our vision for growth will continue to drive meaningful enrollment while the team will pursue Competitive Excellence, Community Impact and Service, and Academic Rigor and Exploration." 
 
The UWSP men's soccer program will be the sixth in the WIAC joining UW-River Falls and UW-Stout as new programs to begin competition in fall 2024. UW-Eau Claire, UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater have existing programs.
 
A national search for the head coach of the men's soccer program will commence immediately. Prospective student-athletes interested in playing men's soccer at UWSP should fill out the Prospective Athlete Form.
