St. Edward's Promotes Ryan Femath to Head Baseball Coach, Ransom LaLonde to Associate Head Coach

| By:

AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's athletics department announced the restructuring of its baseball coaching staff following the departure of Head Coach Bryan Faulds, who has accepted a head coaching position with the University of Akron.

Ryan Femath is promoted to head baseball coach, with Ransom LaLonde promoted to associate head baseball coach.

"Coach Femath and Coach LaLonde have demonstrated exceptional dedication, skill, and passion for our program, and I have complete confidence in their ability to lead us to even greater heights," Associate Vice President for Athletics Debbie Taylor says. "I am genuinely excited about the future of our baseball program and the opportunities that lie ahead. We will continue to strive for excellence on and off the field, and I'm confident that we will achieve great success under the leadership of Coach Femath and Coach LaLonde."

Faulds posted a 72-43 record in two seasons at St. Edward's, including 61-34 in Lone Star Conference play and two NCAA Regional appearances. Femath joined the coaching staff in the fall of 2022, working with Faulds and LaLonde to help guide the Hilltoppers to a 40-17 record.

Before St. Edward's, Femath served as an assistant coach at St. Mary's for 13 years after finishing his collegiate career playing for the Rattlers.

With Femath as its hitting coach, St. Mary's built sustained offensive success, peaking as the Heartland Conference's leader in on-base percentage and walks and second in slugging percentage in the conference's final season. In Femath's first season at St. Edward's, the Hilltoppers set program records for runs scored and RBIs.

He graduated from St. Mary's with a bachelor's in exercise and sport science in December 2008 and completed his master's in educational leadership in 2012.

LaLonde was hired as an assistant coach in 2021 after serving as a graduate assistant. He played for the Hilltoppers from 2012-2014 and helped the program to back-to-back Heartland Conference Championships, earning three all-conference awards and an all-region honorable mention. Before coaching, LaLonde played five seasons of professional baseball between two independent leagues.
