WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri Board of Governors approved the construction of the new Randall and Kelly Harbert Collegiate Golf Center at Mules National Golf Club, it was announced Monday, June 19.

The board, in its June 8, 2023, meeting, approved naming this new state-of-the-art facility the "Randall and Kelly Harbert Collegiate Golf Center" in honor of lead gift providers, Randall Harbert, '85, and Kelly Harbert, '86.

"Kelly and I are pleased to play a small part in the building of the Collegiate Golf Center," Randall Harbert said. "We are most excited that it will benefit both the women's and men's programs. More importantly, it will serve generations of athletes for years to come."

The board and university leadership also acknowledged substantial commitments from Matt, '94, and Julie Roberts as well as an anonymous donor. Finally, the board expressed appreciation for other private donors whose commitment to Mules and Jennies golf helped make this effort a reality.

"This is such an exciting time for Mules and Jennies golf," Mules golf head coach Tim Poe said. "The Randall and Kelly Harbert Collegiate Golf Center will not only put our entire facilities at the top of NCAA Division II golf programs, but it will also be one of the best facilities in all university-owned golf facilities.

A contract in the amount of $1,777,046 with Reasbeck Construction, Warrensburg, was approved by the board to provide all labor, materials, and provisions for the construction of the new facility.

"Through the incredible generosity of our donors, the men's and women's golf programs now have one of the top facilities in NCAA Division II," Jennies golf head coach Chris Port said. "The Randall and Kelly Harbert Collegiate Golf Center gives our teams a place to call home and allows us to showcase the success of the programs and will continue to build on our successes going forward. I continue to be amazed by the generosity of our donors, and our success isn't possible without their support."

The work entails the construction of a new 2,100-square-foot, single-story building with features such as lounge space for both the men's and women's golf teams, two offices, two restrooms, recruit lounge/meeting room and laundry room.

"The center will be a much-needed place for our student-athletes to gather for team meetings and activities, and just a place to call their own that will greatly enhance the student-athlete experience," Poe added. "Just as important, it will be a wonderful place to sit down with our potential recruits and their families to show them the history and future of UCM golf."

The facility is being built with a combination of private funds through the UCM Alumni Foundation and university funds.

"Mules golf and I want to give our sincerest thanks to Rand and Kelly Harbert for their lead gift to this project and their vision of what Mules and Jennies golf is all about," Poe said. "Their gift, along with so many of our closest friends, family and alumni have made this possible. This would also not have happened without the leadership of our president, Dr. Roger Best, our board of governors and the university foundation."

UCM alumni Randall Harbert, '85, and Kelly Harbert, '86, are longtime supporters of the institution, and have made previous gifts to the golf program, including a van for transporting players, in addition to supporting a marketing professorship endowment in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies.
