Tom Rishcoff Named Head Coach for Ithaca Tennis Programs

ITHACA, N.Y. - Associate Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett '79 has announced the hiring of Tom Rishcoff as the next head coach of the Ithaca College men's and women's tennis programs.

Rishcoff joins the Bombers after a stint as the assistant women's tennis coach at Middlebury College during the 2022-23 season.

"I am very excited to announce the appointment of Tom Rishcoff as our new head men's and women's tennis coach," said Associate Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Susan Bassett '79. "Coach Rishcoff comes with significant experience in top Division III tennis programs at selective academic institutions. I have every confidence that he will lead our tennis teams to next level success in the competitive Liberty League conference."

A 2017 graduate of Bridgewater College, Rishcoff has been working as a collegiate coach since obtaining his bachelor's degree. His first stop was at Virginia Wesleyan as an assistant coach where he coached all 11 All-ODAC team selections and the men's team received the 2018 coaching staff of the year award. He then spent a pair of seasons as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Hamilton College where he also served as the interim head men's coach during the 2021-22 season, which saw the Continentals finish with a 7-10 overall record including a 6-3 triumph over Ithaca.

This past season he helped guide the Middlebury women's tennis team to a 17-4 record where they made their sixth-straight appearance in the NCAA Semifinals.

"I would like to thank Susan Bassett and the search committee for the opportunity to be the next head tennis coach at Ithaca," said Rishcoff. "Ithaca College has a rich tradition of success in athletics as well as academics. With great enthusiasm, I look forward to joining this esteemed institution and leading a talented group of student-athletes towards new heights on and off the court."

As a student-athlete, Rishcoff compiled a singles record of 38-21 and was 47-20 in doubles play. He was a team captain for Bridgewater and was an All-ODAC Second Team honoree in singles as a junior and senior as well as made the All-Conference team for doubles three times including First Team in 2014 and 2015.

He will officially begin his duties with the Bombers on July 10.
