DENTON, Texas (June 16, 2023) – On Thursday, the Texas Woman's Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Sandee Mott announced the hiring of Barb Nesbitt Ng as the head coach of the Pioneers Artistic Swimming team.

"I am honored to announce Barb Nesbitt Ng as our new head coach for Artistic Swimming," Mott said. "Her accomplishments, both as an athlete and as a coach, prove she will take our program to the next level as we begin our third year of competition.   I am excited to work with Barb and know that our student-athletes will thrive under her leadership."

Nesbitt Ng becomes the second head coach in the history of Pioneers artistic swimming, taking over for former head coach Sara Lilly, who led TWU in its first two years of program history. In their first two seasons, the Pioneers placed fourth in the nation in back-to-back years at the U.S. Collegiate Championships.

"I would like to thank Sara for putting our program on the map," Mott said. "She is an icon in the artistic swimming world and did a fabulous job laying the foundation for our program.  Our first two years exceeded all expectations, and I am confident the program will continue to grow because of Sara's efforts."

A former collegiate artistic swimmer and still swimming at the Master's level, Nesbitt Ng brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Pioneers.

From a family of Olympic artistic swimmers, Nesbitt Ng joined her mother and sister with her passion for the sport. Growing up, she competed for the USA National Team for eight seasons, during which she captured multiple individual and overall championship titles. Then, Nesbitt Ng swam collegiately at The Ohio State University.

While at Ohio State from 2007-2011, the Buckeyes claimed three U.S. Collegiate National Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She also claimed back-to-back trio national titles in 2009 and 2010.

From 2009-11, Nesbitt Ng served as a volunteer head coach for the Buckeyes, assisting the head coach in choreography, music selection, costume design and program development.

After graduating from The Ohio State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree, Nesbit Ng returned to school and graduated from Concorde Career College with an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2014.

Nesbitt Ng stayed involved in artistic swimming as a performer after graduation. For several years, she was a featured synchronized swimmer in the Las Vegas show, Le Rêve – The Dream, which assisted in broadening her perspective on storytelling through movement and choreography.

Throughout her post-graduate career, Nesbitt Ng had various different stops in her artistic coaching career. From 2011-12, she served as the 13-15 and Junior Lead Coach for the Riverside Aquettes in Riverside, Calif. In 2012, she transitioned to serving as the 12/U, 13-15 and Jr/Sr Lead Coach for Meraquas of Irvine Artistic Swimming in Irvine, Calif., where she most recently coached.

In 2019, Nesbitt Ng began her own company, H2o Performers. Through her company, she personalizes in-home and aquatic training, coaches, choreographs and provides other customized artistic swimming services to her clients.

Nesbitt Ng is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a physical therapist assistant, a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and a Level 3 Artistic Swimming Coach.

"I am honored and extremely excited to be named the new leader of this extraordinary team at Texas Woman's University," Nesbitt Ng said. "The support I have felt from the athletic department is second-to-none, and I know the sky's the limit for this team in the future."
