PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – During the 2023-24 academic year, the Plattsburgh State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation will unveil the remainder of the renovated Memorial Hall.
The multimillion-dollar project, which began in fall 2019, saw phase one of the project completed during the 2021-22 academic year. As a part of that completed phase, a new lobby, Hall of Fame area, recreation gym, downstairs changing area and what will end up being the athlete-only strength and conditioning room were unveiled. During the second phase of construction, the space that will be the athlete-only strength and conditioning room space has been used as a satellite fitness center for the campus while the final fitness center space has undergone renovation.
Now, in 2023-24, the project will enter the home stretch, with the following areas being opened at various points during the year:
- Renovated competition gymnasium for varsity volleyball and basketball
- Renovated fitness center for all students to use that will be more than 12,000 square feet in size and will include all brand-new equipment
- New equipment for the athlete-only strength and conditioning room
- New climbing wall that will extend from the bottom floor to the second floor
- New offices for athletics staff on the second floor as well as new offices for fitness center personnel on the first floor
- New locker rooms and team room space
- New group activity room
- New sports medicine suite for varsity athletics that will include a new treatment and rehab space
- New doctor's office and a hydro room
