Delta State Welcomes Will Irvin as Head Tennis Coach

Following an extensive interview process, Delta State University Director of Athletics Mike Kinnison has announced Will Irvin as the next head coach of the Statesmen Tennis program. Irvin comes to Delta State University from Northwest Mississippi Community College.

"I'm glad to welcome Will to the Athletic Staff. I'm anxious to see his energy and enthusiasm bring positive results to our tennis program," said Kinnison.

"It's an exciting opportunity to come to DSU as a Mississippi guy. I grew up watching and keeping up with DSU tennis, and even had the opportunity to hit with former players in my later years, so I view it as an opportunity to put Mississippi tennis on the map," said Irvin. "My state is very special to me, so a chance to not only coach at one of the highest levels of college athletics, but to do it right down the road from my hometown, and a chance to fight for Mississippi and fight for Delta State is exciting."

Before joining the Northwest staff, Irvin served at the University of Florida, working in athletic ticket sales. Prior to Florida, he spent five years at Mississippi State University as an events operator. Irvin also worked in the fan experience and outbound sales departments while at MSU.

"I think I'm most excited about the rebuilding aspect of this. It's a chance to leave our mark and our brand on the program," said Irvin. "Almost a clean slate to build a path to success and to not only compete, but be dominant on a region and national scale. It's a chance to build a process, implement your strategy and routine, and see how far we can take it. That alone is so exciting. Ultimately, it's an opportunity to build something special, and to do it the Mississippi way."
