Kelsey Resnick Named BVU Head Men's Soccer Coach

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Dec. 16, 2022) – Buena Vista University Director of Athletics, Scott Brown, has announced that Kelsey Resnick has been named Head Men's Soccer Coach effective immediately.

Resnick, who has served as the program's acting head coach since October, joined the men's soccer program as an assistant coach prior to the 2021 campaign.

"Coach Resnick's knowledge of the game, consistent work ethic, and his strong campus partnerships will prove valuable as it relates to the forward momentum of our men's soccer program," says Brown. "I appreciate Kelsey's commitment to Buena Vista University and our soccer student-athletes, particularly over the last several months while acting as interim head coach. I look forward to working with him and his student-athletes in building the men's soccer program moving forward."

Prior to coming to BVU, Resnick was head coach for the semi-pro Portland City Futsal Club. That followed five seasons as an assistant coach for both the women and men programs at Hiram College.

Resnick is a 2009 graduate of Hiram College where he earned his bachelor's degree in communication with minors in history and management. He then went on to earn his law degree from the University of Akron in 2012.

During his time at Hiram, Resnick also played four seasons for the Terriers, starting all 74 matches and serving as captain for three years. A three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selection, Resnick guided the Terriers to the program's first NCAC Tournament appearance, was named Academic All-Ohio twice, and earned NSCAA / Adidas Men's Scholar All-Region (Great Lakes) honors as a senior.

"This is an exciting opportunity to continue leading an amazing group of young men that are hungry, and motivated, to find successes on-and-off the field," says Resnick. "My vision for the program is to establish a culture of accountability and high expectations. We will aim to play an attractive possession-based style that is dynamic in attack, while aggressive and disciplined out-of-possession. It will be our goal to outwork every team we see moving forward."

Kelsey and his wife, Laura, reside in Storm Lake with their two children, Luca and Francesca.
