MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville Athletics Director, Matt Grawrock, announced the addition of
Erin Rotchford to the Athletic Leadership team for the Mustangs, as an Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success.
Rotchford, who assumed the role in September, will remain as head coach of the women's basketball program, in addition to her assistance with sports information.
"I am incredibly pleased to add Erin to our Athletic Leadership as an Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success," Grawrock said.
"She will retain her duties as Head Women's Basketball Coach, and I know she is driven to build off a successful 2021-22 campaign which saw us make great strides in the conference and at the national level."
Rotchford led Morrisville to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament after claiming the United East tournament crown for the first time. Over the course of her career on the sidelines, she has guided the team to six appearances in the Conference Championship Tournament, reaching the finals in back-to-back seasons, while garnering Coach of the Year honors in 2019-20.
"In my short time here, I have seen how Erin values our student-athletes, and is intent on ensuring they have a meaningful collegiate experience," Grawrock stated.
"She shows on the court, with her team, a passion for Morrisville, and I know it will translate in this new role. I'm excited to work with her to create programming and initiatives to help our student-athletes thrive in their athletic, academic social, and community endeavors."
Rotchford's squads have been actively involved in the community, participating in various initiatives such as Reading Across America, Back to School Drive, awareness and fundraising campaigns for St. Jude Hospital, and adopt a family for the holiday season.
"I am honored and excited to take on the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success," Rotchford said.
"I've always been a firm believer in the mission behind Division III athletics, which allows student-athletes the ability to balance rigorous academics with competitive athletics.
"I think that we as a department need to take a holistic approach in providing a student-athlete with a positive experience here at SUNY Morrisville; it involves more than just a coach and a team. Success comes in many forms, and most of them off the playing field.
"My goal in this role is to aid and assist all of our student-athletes in achieving success throughout their time here at Morrisville, through both programming and mentorship initiatives."
Rotchford came to Morrisville in 2015 after serving as an assistant coach at Oswego and the head tennis coach. Outside of her athletic department responsibilities, she was involved in the new student orientation program as an assistant coordinator.
"This position is ideally suited for her," Grawrock said. "I look forward to seeing how she will develop and focus the many resources we have to support Mustang student-athletes, and our department.
"She has a wealth of skills to liaison with other campus constituencies to gather resources and opportunities to benefit our student-athletes. She also has wonderful connections to help our student-athletes engage our campus, and the Morrisville community, and help athletics have a partnership with these groups.
"I am very grateful for Erin's efforts, and for the commitment to Morrisville athletics, and look forward to the good she will do with these new responsibilities," Grawrock said.
