Empire 8 Conference Commissioner Chuck Mitrano announced the hiring of Alyssa Presutti as Assistant Commissioner. Presutti begins her role as Assistant Commissioner on Monday, July 10.

Presutti has spent the last six seasons in the Sports Information field, from 2017-21 at Finger Lakes Community College and at Empire 8 institution Medaille University from 2021-23. At Medaille, Presutti was the main media contact for all 19 sports, including the 2022 Empire 8 Champion men’s soccer team, 2021-22 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men’s basketball team and the women’s bowling squad that earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

While at Medaille, Presutti coordinated all video streaming efforts, maintained statistics, stories, pictures and video services for www.medaillesports.com and all social media channels, among several other duties. She also managed the Medaille Athletics Department annual Hall of Fame ceremony and end of season awards ceremony.

“I am excited to join the Empire 8 team,” said Presutti. “After working with the conference for one year as a member SID, I’m thrilled to make the transition to Assistant Commissioner. Getting to cover all of our conference institutions and be  a part of the league’s 25th anniversary celebration is something that I am really looking forward to.”

As assistant commissioner, Presutti’s job responsibilities will include helping Associate Commissioner Joe Venniro oversee the E8’s public relations, graphic design, video, social media, and marketing programs in addition to the conference’s sports information department and assist with Empire 8 Network web streaming. She will also help oversee the Empire 8 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and assist with the annual Empire 8 Student-Athlete Summit among other duties.

“Alyssa has many great skill sets that will elevate the service to our student-athletes and membership to the next level,” said Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano. “We are very excited to have her as a vital part of our team and future.”

Presutti earned her bachelor’s degree in communication/media journalism from Geneseo in 2017. She was a four-year student-athlete at SUNY Geneseo, where she starred as a member of the softball program, helping lead the Knights to 93 wins in four seasons. Presutti hit .310 as a senior in 2017, while serving as a captain and finished her career with 65 hits, 46 runs scored, 13 doubles, three home runs and 30 runs batted in.

In addition, Presutti gained valuable experience as a student intern in the Geneseo Athletic Communications and Media Relations office, serving as a photographer and videographer. Her work with the 2016-17 Geneseo women’s basketball team was featured on the NCAA Division III selection show.
