Kim Oren named NCAA vice president of human resources

Veteran leader brings more than 20 years of experience into executive role

Kim Oren has been named the NCAA's new vice president of human resources. She brings more than 20 years of experience in human resources leadership roles across several industries. She joined the national office in January 2022 as the managing director of human resources.

"I am thrilled to continue the important work of leading the people mission of the NCAA, collaborating with stakeholders and supporting the staff members in the national office," Oren said. "It is an honor to lead an amazing team of HR professionals who pride themselves on helping our staff succeed together. I am excited about what the future has in store for the national office during such an important time in college athletics."

Her duties as vice president include overseeing the strategic direction, operation and management of the NCAA's HR department, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, talent management, performance management, learning and development, and culture, engagement and inclusion practices.

President Charlie Baker made the appointment effective July 1.

"In the short time I've worked with her, Kim has quickly demonstrated her ability to put people first while staying focused on results," Baker said. "She's transparent, mission-driven and goal-oriented. I know she will continue to be a resource for staff in this important role."

Before joining the NCAA, Oren served as vice president and chief human resources officer at Direct Connect Logistix. Her background also includes roles at Marriott, Aaron's and Walgreens.

Oren has a bachelor's degree from Cal State San Bernardino. She is a certified professional of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds certifications from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Oren lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Josh.
