Returning to his Roots: Shawn Bibee Named Bearcat Women's Bowling Coach

LEBANON, Ill. – Director of Athletics Anthony Francis is pleased to announce the next head women's bowling coach in McKendree University history. Shawn Bibee returns to the Bearcat family as the new head women's bowling coach, after his experience as a graduate assistant and a student-athlete.

"To be back where everything started for myself is an amazing feeling. We won our first national championship in 2016 and that feeling is something I can share with our future athletes as a coach. I had an opportunity to share my love of the sport through high school programs in Michigan, so when I came back as a graduate assistant for the program in 2019, my dream was to join the collegiate coaching ranks," said head coach Bibee. "What I never expected was for my coronation to collegiate coaching to be at my alma mater (twice over). I'm excited for this next adventure and for continued success that McKendree University bowling is known for."

Bibee was a part of the 2016 Intercollegiate Team Championship, the first championship in program history. After graduating with his bachelor's degree in sports management, he returned to the university to become a graduate assistant from July 2019 to April 2020.

During his time as a GA, Bibee led the women's junior varsity programs to a second-place finish as the Lions' Classic, a top 15 at the Hoosier Classic and top ten at the Brunswick Southern Classic.

"Shawn is a Mckendree Alum and over his years at the University, he's been involved in so many great moments as a player and as an assistant. He's a very talented and highly motivated coach who is certain to excel as our next Head Coach," said Director of Athletics, Anthony Francis. "He understands our institutional culture and mission and what it takes to be successful at the University. I'm excited to see Coach Bibee build on the success we've had within our Bowling programs."

Coach Bibee, originally from Fair Haven, Michigan, is acquiring a team coming off of the 2022-23 season, which saw the Bearcats win the ITC National Championship and made a NCAA final four appearance.
