Lee Set for Alma College Return to Lead Swimming and Diving Program

Alma, MI - Alma College has hired Alex Lee as the Scots' next Head Swimming and Diving Coach, as announced by Vice President/Director of Athletics Sarah Dehring on July 5th.

"We are very excited to have Alex Lee return to the Scots family here at Alma College," said Dehring.

"After a nationwide search, we believe that Alex is the best candidate to lead this program going forward. Having worked with us in years prior, there is no question to Alex's dedication to the mission and values of Alma College, and Division III athletics. We look forward to seeing how he can connect with the team, and help each individual grow their talents to become even more competitive as a group."

Lee joins Alma from Vassar College, where he served as the lead Assistant Coach and Aquatics Director.

"I'm very thankful for the opportunity to return to Alma College. I'm excited to return to the Scots and begin working with the team and entire athletics staff. I want to thank Athletic Director  Sarah Dehring and the search committee for giving me this opportunity. Let's get to work!" 

Lee spent 2022-23 with the Vassar College swimming and diving program. While there, he helped to coach the women's team to 7 dual meet victories, and a narrow 2nd place finish in the Liberty League Championships. The Vassar staff was named Liberty League Women's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year. He also served as the aquatics director at Vassar for Kresge Pool.

Prior to Vassar, Lee recorded a 1-year stint as the volunteer assistant swimming coach at Carthage College, assisting the head coaches during practice and competitions. In the 21-22 season, Carthage's teams combined for a 5-1 record in dual meet action. The men's team won the CCIW Championship meet, and women finished 3rd. He also served as the Esports Graduate Assistant, leading out-of-state recruiting efforts, as well as assisting in daily practices and competitions. He also served as the producer of the team's Twitch streams.
 
Before moving to Carthage, Lee served as the assistant swim coach at Alma College, helping facilitate four school records during the 2019-20 season. He also served as the recruiting coordinator, helping to bring in 17 recruits to the 2020 recruiting class and 13 to the 2021 class.
 
A four-year letterwinner at Kalamazoo College, Lee swam his collegiate career for the Hornets. He graduated from Kalamazoo in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, moving on to complete at Master of Science in Business with a Sports Management track at Carthage in 2022.
