FVSU Welcomes Daphnie Johnson to Coordinator of Student-Athletes Success/SWA Post

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcat athletic department just became better. On July 3, Fort Valley State welcomed Daphnie Johnson as the new Coordinator of Student-Athletes Success/Senior Woman Administrator post.
 
Bringing a wealth of experience to the department, Johnson begins her direction to the Wildcat student-athletes to help gain greater success off the playing field, be an experienced resource, direct the compliance efforts and be the advocate for all Wildcat student-athletes.
 
"I am extremely excited to welcome Daphnie to our team. Her care and concern for student-athletes has carried over from coaching to administration. Her background in compliance and academics will be a huge plus for our student-athletes and coaches," explains FVSU Director of Athletics Dr. Renae Myles Payne on her first department hiring. "As our Senior Woman Administrator, she will provide leadership and perspective in all aspects of our department. I have no doubt she will help us ELEVATE THE GROWL."

"As my role as Coordinator of Student-Athlete Success/Senior Woman Administrator/Compliance student-athletes will have a transparent leader that is committed to their successful collegiate experience."

Johnson comes to FVSU after she served as the first female Director of Athletics and Director of Compliance at Clinton College in Rock Hill, S.C. from July 2022. She directed all areas of the Golden Bears athletics department from budget, managed personnel and compliance matters for the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association member.

Before her time at Clinton College, Daphnie held the position of Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Regent University for two years (2020-22) where she helped oversee and direct all aspects of the program.

Johnson started her collegiate athletics experience for Elizabeth City State University (Elizabeth City, N.C.). Within the Vikings department, she served as Senior Woman Administrator/Women's Basketball Associate Head Coach/Men's & Women's Cross Country Head Coach and Assistant Compliance Director from August 2017 through May 2020.

Daphnie also began her collegiate athletic experience at Saint Augustine's University serving under the legendary Director of Athletics George "Puff" Williams where she served as assistant women's basketball coach for four seasons.

Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Management at Edward Waters University and a Master of Education in Sport and Athletic Management at North Central University.
