Marks named inaugural men's volleyball head coach

Corey Marks comes to Rockhurst from Eastern Nazarene College.
Rockhurst University Director of Athletics Kristy Bayer announced today (July 5) that Corey Marks has been hired as the first-ever men's volleyball head coach. Marks will begin recruiting this summer to get his first squad ready for the 2024-25 academic year.

Marks comes to Rockhurst from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts where he served as the men's head volleyball coach and assistant athletic director in 2022-23. The Lions posted an 18-13 as a member of the Division III New England Collegiate Conference last spring.

"Corey is a top notch hire for us," Bayer said. "We are extremely fortunate to have someone with successful head coaching experience and extensive recruiting knowledge as our inaugural head coach. This will bode well in building a competitive roster.

"We are excited to bring men's NCAA D-II volleyball to Rockhurst and the Kansas City community. I would like to thank our board of trustees and our president, Sandy Cassady, Ph.D., for their support during this process. I also want to give a special thank you to the First Point Volleyball Foundation for their support of the program through a special grant that will help fund program operations through 2026."

Marks previously was an assistant coach at Florida International University and Johnson & Wales University from 2017-21, in addition to being the USA Volleyball Youth National head coach. He was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the inaugural Thirty Under 30 Beach Award in April 2021.

A native of Florida, Marks received his B.A. from Broward College and M.A. in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine.
