Sources have confirmed to DCTF that Amy Carlton is headed to the Lone Star Conference and will serve as associate commissioner. Carlton spent the last 16 years as the Commissioner for the American Southwest Conference. Interestingly, The ASC and the LSC are in the same office building.

Carlton joined the ASC as director of media relations in January 2002 and was promoted to assistant commissioner in May 2003. Before joining the ASC, she spent 13 years in sports information at three NCAA Division I institutions, including a 10-year stint as assistant director of media relations at Michigan.

A native of Greencastle, Ind., Carlton was elected to the executive board of the Division III Commissioners Association in January 2019 as an at-large member. She led the ASC through numerous membership changes during her tenure.

Carlton joins the LSC at a time when the conference has 16 basketball members, but only seven of those members currently sponsor football. The LSC is set to expand next year with the addition of Sul Ross State.

Last week, the ASC named David Flores the new Commissioner. Flores previously served as Vice President for Governance at the Big 12 Conference.
