ATLANTA – ASUN Conference Commissioner Jeff Bacon announced Thursday the hiring of Joseph Kaminski as Senior Associate Commissioner for Sports Administration. Kaminski joins the league office after serving nearly four years as the Associate Commissioner for Sports Administration for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
"We are thrilled to add a veteran administrator like Joe to the ASUN family," Bacon said. "Not only does Joe bring significant experience to our conference, but he is also a tremendous person who will be an incredible asset to our membership. Joe's interest in being a part of what the ASUN is building is a reminder that this is a great place to be right now."
While with the CAA, Kaminski had oversight of several sports: Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving, Men's and Women's Tennis and Softball. He was also the championship director for the Women's Basketball Championship and the assistant championship director for Baseball.
"The level of excitement that I have for the opportunity to join the ASUN staff and serve the membership is indescribable," Kaminski said. "The vision and energy that Commissioner Bacon shared in our discussions regarding the future of the conference was invigorating and I couldn't be more all in. I owe the world to Commissioner D'Antonio and the CAA staff for preparing me for this role, and I can't wait to dive in and get started."
Kaminski is a graduate of Medaille College in New York, where he was a four-year member of the Baseball team, and has a Master’s Degree from Marshall University. His new role with the ASUN includes oversight of Basketball as well as the league's sport policy and administration, scheduling and championships. He also will serve on the conference's executive staff, participating in strategic planning, strategic initiatives, revenue generation, marketing and brand development. He brings over 15 years of industry experience to the league when he begins his tenure on July 17, 2023.
