Ferguson Selected as FPU Director of Athletics

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno Pacific University has tabbed Kyle Ferguson as the new Director of Athletics, President André Stephens, Ph.D. announced.

"I'm excited to be a part of the community at Fresno Pacific," Ferguson said of his new position in Fresno. "In my short time on campus, I met really great people who care deeply about the impact that we have in and around campus. There are great opportunities to help build up our student-athletes spiritually, mentally, and socially."

Ferguson, who will begin the role on July 1st, brings a depth of experience in academia beyond athletics including admissions, faculty and administration.

Since 2020, Ferguson has been chair of the Humanities Division at Lewis-Clark State College where he began as assistant professor of communication arts in 2016.

Prior to his time in Lewiston, Ferguson served as director of athletics at San Diego Christian College where he led the addition of three new teams and managed the department's budget. Ferguson instituted vision and mission statements along with core values and a philosophy for SDCC athletics.

"God has provided Kyle with a variety of roles in higher education that will allow him to make connections across campus," said President André Stephens, Ph.D. "God has great things in store for FPU and Kyle will be part of our mission to develop students for leadership and service through excellence in Christian higher education."

Ferguson also expresses a passion for the unique, and major, role athletics plays at Christian colleges and universities.

"The primary goal of the Christian university's athletic department should be to develop young men and women in their walk with Christ; the byproduct of that will be degree attainment and successful programs," Ferguson said.

In the Golden State Athletic Conference—FPU's former NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) conference—Ferguson was a member of the executive committee, along with the membership, ethics and schedule subcommittees. In 2007, Ferguson began his academic career as an admission counselor at San Diego Christian College, becoming sports information director in 2013.

Ferguson is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Idaho State University. He earned a Master of Arts in Communication from Spring Arbor University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from York University.

Ferguson and his wife Lori, a Fresno native, will bring their four children Brookelyn, Bonnie, Claire, Koufax to the FPU campus in July.
