Leadership Change Announced for UNF Baseball

Coach Parenton Steps Down as Head Baseball Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - University of North Florida baseball head coach Tim Parenton will step down from his position after six seasons as head coach as announced by UNF Athletics Director Nick Morrow Tuesday, May 30. Coach Parenton has the option to move into an administrative position within the department as he continues to focus on his health.

"We want to thank Coach Parenton for all of his hard work, commitment and service to our program over the past six years," director of athletics Nick Morrow said. "We have the utmost respect for Coach Parenton at North Florida and believe this is the best decision for Coach Parenton and our program as we continue to build on a tradition of success for UNF baseball."

Parenton took over prior to the June 2017 season and logged over 100 victories in his second stop as a head coach at the Division I level. During his tenure North Florida has produced two ASUN Scholar-Athletes of the Year, a Senior Class Award finalist, one ASUN Player of the Year, one ASUN Pitcher of the Year, two all-americans, two all-region picks and 17 all-conference honorees.

UNF picked up its fair share of notable wins during Parenton's tenure, earning nine Power Five wins and four against ranked teams. The Ospreys defeated Missouri twice, No. 3 Florida, Ohio State, Boston College, No. 21 Georgia, Florida State twice and No. 6 South Carolina. Since 2018, North Florida baseball has seen four players selected in the June MLB Draft, including Austin Drury, Frank German, Tanner Murphy and Brad Deppermann. German, an all-american righty, made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox last September.

North Florida is coming off a 28-27 season, a year that saw UNF finish just outside of the ASUN postseason. The Ospreys set program DI-era records for a single season in home runs (74) and stolen bases (75), with Alex Lodise and Austin Brinling headlining postseason selections as first team all-league picks.

A coaching search will be undergone immediately.
