Chicago State Athletics Announces Staff Updates

Jared Lyons Named Assistant AD for Business Operations; Julie Hall Promoted to Deputy AD/SWA

Chicago State Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Monique Carroll revealed a pair of administrative updates to her executive leadership team today. Jared Lyons was named assistant athletic director for business operations at Chicago State University, while Julie Hall has been promoted from Associate Athletic Director for Student Services and Academics to Deputy Athletic Director and will serve as the department's senior woman administrator. 

In his role with the Cougars, Lyons will be responsible for managing the daily business and financial operations of Chicago State University's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and overseeing events, facilities and equipment along with serving as a sport supervisor. 

In her new role, Hall will provide strategic direction and operations with oversight over sports performance, student services, human resources, capital engagement and serve as a sport supervisor. Hall will also serve as the departmental DEI representative and primary SAAC Advisor. 

"I am excited to elevate Julie to this role. Julie has shown her passion, dedication and commitment to Chicago State and our student athletes since her arrival. In her expanded role, I look forward to her continued commitment to the culture we are building at CSU," Carroll said.

Lyons comes to Chicago State from Huston-Tillotson University where he served as the interim director of intercollegiate athletics and oversaw all aspects of HT Athletics, including coordination of all athletic budgets and financial accounting processes as well as monitoring day-to-day operations of the institution's 13 sport programs with 200+ student-athletes. 

Prior to being promoted to Interim Athletic Director, Lyons served as the Athletic Operations Manager where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of athletics, including scheduling and travel. He also oversaw sport events, marketing, ticket sales/operations and assisted in the management of the athletics operations budget.

Lyons spent time as the business development manager for Flight Centre Travel Group where he specialized in collegiate athletics travel and operations and has over 15 years in the coaching and teaching ranks, including his last stop at Prairie View A&M University.

Lyons earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Houston and his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Concordia University Texas. Lyons is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Liberty University.    

An Austin, Texas native, Lyons was a student-athlete at Cedar Valley College for two seasons before finishing his playing career at the University of Houston. 

Hall joined the Cougars on September 1, 2022 as the Associate Athletic Director for Student Services and Academics. With over three decades of higher education experience involving athletics, student affairs and advancement, she is poised to serve in a senior leadership role for the Cougars. Most recently, Hall spent nine years at Aurora University where she served as director of the university academics support center and the disability resource office.

Prior to her time at Aurora, she served as the Associate Athletics Director for Development at the University of California, Riverside from 2006-13, overseeing fundraising operations for intercollegiate athletics. Under her guidance, UC Riverside completed successful campaigns to provide funding for the renovation of the men's and women's basketball locker rooms and a dedicated basketball/volleyball practice facility.  

Hall served two stints at Cal Poly Pomona as Director of Development for Athletics and Director of Programs, Marketing and Intramurals. Additional stops included Concordia University Portland, Eastern Washington University and California State University, East Bay (Hayward).

Hall earned her Bachelor of Science, Recreation and Masters of Public Administration from California State University, East Bay and was a varsity student-athlete at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and East Bay.
