DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is excited to announce the addition of Josie Knapp as Assistant Athletic Director for Administration.

"I'm excited to be joining the Skyhawks administration team, and I look forward to getting started. After my experience as a student-athlete, I knew that I wanted to work in collegiate athletics long term," said Knapp. "I'm eager to take this next step in athletics administration while improving the student-athlete experience at Fort Lewis College."

Knapp is a familiar face to FLC athletics after working with various programs through her most recent position with Humanex Ventures, a company that specializes in consulting with partners in education, athletics, and business to build and create culture. Through her role as an Analyst, Training, and Product Development Specialist, Knapp gained knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations through direct communication with the institution's compliance officer, business manager, and coaching staffs to support the partnership between Humanex Ventures and the institution. She also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's soccer team in 2022.

In her new position with the Skyhawks, Knapp will be tasked with a wide variety of responsibilities. Her day-to-day duties include planning, coordinating, and executing department events, hiring and organizing student employees, developing visiting team guides and communication, coordinating ticket office operations, Skyhawks Club passes, and benefit fulfillment, planning RMAC Championships and NCAA Postseason tournaments and competitions hosted by FLC Athletics on and off campus, and the scheduling of all athletic facilities for training, meetings, contests, and camps.

"We are thrilled to officially welcome Josie to our administrative team. She brings a wealth of experience and a great skillset for this role," said director of athletics Travis Whipple. "Her familiarity with FLC and the department will serve her well in this new capacity. As a former student-athlete, she is committed to excellence and is passionate about enhancing the experience for all Skyhawks."

Knapp graduated from Hastings College in 2020 with degrees in Business Administration and Psychology along with a minor in Human Resource Management. She was a four-year member of the women's soccer team where her team won a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season championships (2016 and 2018) as well as a pair of GPAC Tournament championships (2017 and 2018). The Broncos advanced to the NAIA National Tournament all four years during her illustrious career. Knapp was a First Team and Second Team All-Conference member as well as being named NAIA Honorable Mention All-American in her career.
