Oregon finishes 27th at NCAA men’s golf championship

Oregon’s season came to an end after the third round of the NCAA men’s golf championship.

The Ducks shot a 19-over 299 in round three at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona to finish in 27th place at plus-42 overall, failing to make the cut for the final round of stroke play.

“We had a great year,” Oregon coach Casey Martin said in a release. “It’s tough cause you don’t want to finish like that, but we had a great year and have nothing to be ashamed of. We just ran out of gas. We had a lot of adversity here this weekend, but that’s alright. The kids are resilient, we’ll be right back and we’ll do it again next year. I’m really proud of them.”

Oregon finished 16 shots behind 15th place Texas Tech, the last team to make the cut for the final round of stroke play.

Owen Avrit shot 3-over to lead UO on Sunday. His birdie on the par 4 ninth was the only birdie on the front nine for the Ducks.

Nate Stember and Gabriel Hari each shot 4-over. Strember’s 10-over overall tied for 81st through three rounds, best for UO.

Greyson Leach shot 8-over. He dropped from tied for 19th after an opening round 70 to tied for 84th.

Aiden Krafft’s 11-over round didn’t count towards the team’s score on Sunday.
