Have a Spare $10,000? You Can Join Penn State Football’s New Tunnel Club

Penn State Athletics announced on Thursday morning a premium seating and football game day experience with the creation of the Tunnel Club.

The new club will be located in the south tunnel of Beaver Stadium [where Penn State enters the field] and has two members-only spaces. Features will include an open bar, complimentary food and snacks, private restrooms, exclusive Wi-Fi network, views of the team taking the field each game and special access to each home football game weekend.

Membership is $10,000 annually, and the number of memberships available will be limited. According to the athletic department, the fee is considered non-charitable and does not count toward any ticket or parking purchase or contribution.

The Tunnel Club will be open to members for a minimum of five additional dates per year, which could include football away game weekends, select non-football Penn State home games, graduation weekends, Arts Fest and other university and special events.

Members will be allowed a total of four passes per event, and will also be able to rent the club throughout the year for private events and parties.

High-end tunnel club spaces are increasingly common in sports —the Dallas Cowboys, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs all have similar premium tunnel access.

For Penn State it’s another new Beaver Stadium enhancement leading up to what will be a major renovation project of the Nittany Lion football team’s home. A “Legacy Plaza” honoring Penn State football history will be constructed prior to the start of the upcoming season outside the stadium next to the south end zone tunnel along Curtin Road.

Items like the Tunnel Club and Legacy Plaza, however, are only preludes to what is expected to be a $700 million renovation of the stadium. In May, the Board of Trustees approved a $70 million first phase scheduled to be completed by 2027. Design work is slated to begin this summer
