Nationwide Search Begins for Next Millsaps Head Softball Coach as DeLoach Resigns

After Five Seasons at the Helm, Two-Time SAA Coach of the Year to Lead Brandon High School

JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps College Director of Athletics Aaron Pelch announced on Monday that head softball coach Caroline DeLoach will resign and become the head softball coach at Brandon High School. A national search for a new Millsaps softball head coach begins immediately.

"I am a Memphis, Tenn., native who came to Mississippi 14 years ago to attend Millsaps College," DeLoach said. "I thought I would return as soon as those four years ended. After playing at Millsaps, I was able to join the coaching staff as the assistant coach. Four years later I was named head coach. Now Mississippi is home! … Millsaps will always be home to me and I am so thankful for all the people I have met and the many great years, but now it's time for me to be an alum!"

In five seasons, DeLoach posted a 73-97 (34-40 SAA) record and was twice named the SAA Softball Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022. She tallied seven SAA postseason wins during her tenure, including three in her first season in 2019.

The 2020 season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but saw the Majors post a 13-9 (3-2 SAA) record. In 2021 and 2022, DeLoach led Millsaps to winning marks in the SAA at 9-6 and 11-7, respectively, resulting in back-to-back SAA Coach of the Year nods. The 11 league wins in 2022 were the most since the 2017 campaign.

The Majors finished either third or fourth in the conference standings during DeLoach's final three seasons, while earning a pair of postseason wins in each of her final two campaigns.

During five seasons (and four full seasons), DeLoach coached 14 SAA Players or Pitchers of the Week, an SAA Softball Player of the Year and member of the NFCA Division III All-Region Team (Molli Perry - 2022) as well as 71 members of the SAA Academic Honor Roll.

While at the helm, DeLoach's programs finished with a 3.359 GPA in 2022 and 3.646 GPA in 2023. Millsaps combined for 23 NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete Awards in 2021 and 2022.

She also helped create Club 40, which recognizes Millsaps student-athletes who obtained 4.0 GPAs and was highly involved with the Millsaps Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

DeLoach, formerly Caroline Thompson, was a four-year standout for the Majors from 2011-2014. She earned all-conference honors every single year at Millsaps, including a First-Team All-SAA selection her senior season after posting a .410 batting average and leading the Majors with 31 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.

She graduated in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and in July of 2015 received her Master of Business of Administration also from Millsaps College.

After her playing career DeLoach was an assistant coach for the Majors from 2015-2017. Directly prior to taking over the direction of the Millsaps program she served as the head softball and women's track coach at Central Hinds Academy in Raymond, Miss.

Caroline and her husband Scott, reside in Madison, Miss., with their son, Houston and daughter, Harper.
