The intern will rotate between the surgery & medicine (food animal) and theriogenology (food), both in house, and ambulatory services. The program is designed to prepare the individual for a residency in a corresponding discipline or entry into private practice. The program is directly supported by 2 diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 3 diplomates of the American College of Theriogenologists, 4 clinical faculty professors, and 3 support staff. The food animal clinic annual case load is 1,500-1,800 cases/year (beef 60%, dairy 10%, small ruminants 30%) and ambulatory is 1,300 trips/year (40% beef cow/calf and 20% dairy/small ruminants). As a specialty intern, duties will be specific to only food animal species (except emergency). Additionally, the intern will be expected to participate in didactic teaching (sophomore, junior, and senior). |
