With an impressive track record as the head coach of the men's and women's golf teams, Muncy brings a wealth of experience and success to his new role.

Muncy has been the head coach of the Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team for the past 20 years and has led the women's program for 18 seasons. During his tenure, he achieved remarkable success, including leading the Railsplitters to a runner-up finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. Under Muncy's guidance, the Railsplitters have consistently excelled, earning several notable accolades such as five-time SAC Coach of the Year and four Men's SAC Championships.

"I am extremely thankful and blessed for this opportunity and am looking forward to the challenges that come with the position," said Muncy.  "LMU is my home, I have enjoyed my time with the men's and women's golf teams and now I get to spend more time and help celebrate all the other wonderful teams we have here at LMU.  It is a great time to be a Railsplitter and we are looking to continue the legacy and achievements of past teams as we continue to look toward the future and more championships."

"Mr. Muncy's familiarity and interpersonal relationships across the LMU academic community will serve him well in this new opportunity. He achieved great success as our Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach by displaying a collaborative spirit, for his student-athletes and across all departments at LMU. In a landscape where the holistic development of all student-athletes is paramount, Mr. Muncy will ensure the necessary resources are available to accomplish this vital task. I am confident Mr. Muncy will excel with his new responsibilities", remarked Jody Goins (LMU Executive Vice President for Administration).

As a highly respected coach, Muncy has coached seven SAC Players of the Year and three SAC Freshmen of the Year. His teams have consistently qualified for the NCAA South/Southeast Region for seven consecutive years, and he has been honored as the Division II Southeast Region Coach of the Year twice. Muncy's commitment to excellence is further highlighted by having had a student athlete named National Player of the Year Finalist on two occasions. Moreover, the team's #1 national ranking in the fall of 2021 speaks volumes about Muncy's leadership and dedication.

Muncy's tenure with the women's program has been equally impressive, as he has consistently guided the Railsplitters to top-five finishes at the SAC Tournament in 10 of the last 12 years. His ability to maintain the team's success underscores his exceptional coaching abilities and commitment to building a winning program.

Prior to his coaching career, Muncy served as the Director of Golf Operations at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee. His dedication and contributions earned him recognition as Head Professional of the Year in 2002 and several Tennessee Section awards for Merchandiser of the Year.

Muncy's own golfing career includes playing at Edison College before transitioning to the Hogan Tour as a professional. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from LMU in 1998 and later completed a Master of Business Administration from LMU in 2004.

In his new role as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Muncy will leverage his extensive experience in collegiate coaching and golf administration to enhance the athletic department's internal operations.
