NORTHFIELD, Minn. – After four seasons as the head coach of the St. Olaf College men's tennis program, Chris Kuna has stepped down to focus on other coaching opportunities, as announced by St. Olaf Athletic Director Ryan Bowles on Wednesday.

After taking over the program from longtime head coach Scott Nesbit in 2019, Kuna led St. Olaf to 19 victories during his time on the Hill, including 11 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) wins. At St. Olaf, Kuna coached four All-MIAC singles players, five All-MIAC doubles honorees, and two Honorable Mention All-MIAC doubles selections.

"I want to thank Chris for his leadership of our men's tennis program the past four years," Bowles said. "Chris has been a valuable member of our community and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

This past spring, first year Bogdan Vizoli was named the inaugural MIAC Rookie of the Year and collected All-MIAC honors in both singles and doubles under Kuna's direction. Senior Henry Smith also landed a spot on the Honorable Mention All-MIAC list in doubles.

Kuna's teams excelled academically, earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors in both 2019-20 and 2021-22 and producing 16 ITA Scholar-Athletes during those two seasons. St. Olaf has also had 13 Academic All-MIAC honorees over the last two seasons.

Prior to taking over the men's program, Kuna served as an assistant coach for St. Olaf's men's and women's programs for three seasons under Nesbit, who retired as St. Olaf's head women's tennis coach this spring.
