6/6/2023 11:02:00 AM

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Rick Beard '90, M'92, director of athletics, announced Jeff Robbins as the next head coach of the men's tennis program following Dave Remsburg's retirement.

Robbins, a long-time assistant coach under Remsburg and current LVC professor of religion, takes over the men's program after being the women's interim coach this spring and an assistant coach for the men. Robbins led the women to a 14-3 record, including their second consecutive undefeated season in the MAC Commonwealth and the program's fourth conference title. The women won the first NCAA Tournament match in program history, defeating Hartwick College 5-2 before falling to fourth-ranked Middlebury College in the second round. The men's team had a 17-4 record, also sweeping through conference play and winning their second consecutive MAC Commonwealth title.

"During the past decade, I've learned from two legendary LVC coaches in Dave Remsburg and Joy Graeff," Robbins said. "As a professor and a coach, I have loved getting to know student-athletes through the different aspects of their college experience. And as a lifelong tennis player, I aim to make playing on the tennis team one of the most enjoyable and rewarding aspect of their college life."

In addition to his work with the LVC men's and women's tennis teams for the past nine years, Robbins is also the co-director of the Lebanon Valley Community Tennis Association, a non-profit organization based in Lebanon that offers numerous free tennis instructional and recreational play opportunities. He has coached and assisted in coaching junior team tennis in USTA league play and directed camps, clinics, and sectional USTA tournaments for competitive juniors in the region. He had a successful junior tennis career, beginning in his home state of Louisiana.

"I can't think of a better person to be our new men's tennis coach than Jeff," Beard stated. "His experience with the team and success leading the women's team this spring shows he is ready to lead the men into a new conference."
