WAUKESHA, Wis. – Shawn Thielitz will step down as head men's and women's Track and Field head coach this fall, Director of Athletics Mike Schulist has announced. Thielitz will transition to an assistant coach role in Track and Field, specializing in distance running, and continue to serve as men's and women's Cross Country head coach.

"Coach Thieltiz has had an impact on Carroll student-athletes for almost 20 years and am grateful his coaching career will continue, albeit in a different capacity," said Schulist.  "I am happy for Coach to find more balance within his family endeavors, while continuing to provide first-class coaching to the cross country and track distance running athletes."

"I am incredibly grateful and appreciative of everything that Carroll University has done for me and my family over the past 22 seasons," said Thielitz. "With the support of Athletic Director Mike Schulist and the Carroll administration I can add more balance to my life. To the athletes and parents, I want to give a sincere and heartfelt 'thank you.'  I would not have been able to do this without your trust and support. I am looking forward to being an important part of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams for many years to come."

Thielitz has spent 22 seasons with the Pioneers' Cross Country and Track and Field programs, including 21 as the head coach. During Thieltiz's tenure, the Cross Country team has produced nine national qualifiers, two all-Americans, a CCIW Freshman of the Year, and seven Midwest Conference individual champions.

In Track and Field, Thielitz was at the helm of the program for seven national champions, six national runners-up, and over 49 All-Americans. The women's Track and Dield program won the 2004 Midwest Conference Indoor Championships under his leadership. Recently in the CCIW, the Pioneers have sustained the best finishes in point standings since their first run in the conference in the 1970s.

Carroll University will begin a national search for its next head men's and women's Track and Field Coach immediately.
