BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England Director of Athletics Heather Davis has announced the promotion of Patty Williams to Associate Director of Athletics, effective June 1. Williams has been an Assistant Director since 2016-17, and became UNE's NCAA Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) in the spring of 2020.

During Williams' 14-year tenure in Biddeford, club sport offerings have increased from six to 20, while intramural activities have grown from 10 to 25. Participation over this time has more than doubled, and the intramural program alone sees an average of 800 students participate each year.

As the SWA, she organizes programming regarding sexual violence for coaches and student-athletes as mandated by the NCAA. She also coordinates the nomination process for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, and was chosen to attend the 2022 NCAA Division III Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) Program ahead of the 2022 Women Leaders in College Sports Convention in Kansas City.

"Patty is a creative leader who plays such a vital role in the student experience here at UNE," shared Davis. "The sheer growth in the quantity and quality of both the club sports and intramural opportunities under her guidance has been impressive."
