Radford has extended AD Robert Lineburg’s contract through June 2028, according to CollegeAD, which reports the new deal will officially take effect on June 25, 2026. Lineburg’s salary will increase to $231,965 with the opportunity for increases. Should the school part ways with Lineburg without cause, it would owe him 12 months’ salary. Should Lineburg leave for another DI position, he must make “commercially reasonable efforts” to schedule home-and-home series in men’s and women’s basketball with his new institution within two years. The Mountain West has signed a new media rights deal through 2031-32 with CBS Sports, FOX Sports, The CW Network and Kiswe. Per the agreement, FOX Sports will carry the league’s football championship, 12 regular season FB games and 20 men’s basketball games. CBS Sports will have the rights to 15 regular season FB games, with one to be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, the men’s and women’s basketball championships and 20 total regular season MBB and WBB games. Starting this fall, The CW will carry 13 football games, 20 MBB games and 15 WBB games. Kiswe will develop a new direct-to-consumer streaming service that will launch this summer to stream over 1,000 live events a year, in addition to game replays and original content. Commissioner Gloria Nevarez: “The partnerships with CBS Sports, FOX Sports, The CW Network, and Kiswe represent the broadest media distribution plan in the Conference’s history, delivering unprecedented national linear visibility coupled with a creative and comprehensive digital presence. Aligning with three nationally recognized broadcast media partners and marquee streaming platforms powered by Kiswe’s expertise ensures that our student-athletes showcase their athletic excellence, academic achievements, personal stories, and the pride they bring to their universities.” (link)

The recent rash of indictments over alleged college basketball point-shaving “seems unlikely to prompt immediate wholesale changes within the NCAA,” per Law360’s Alex Lawson, who notes the organization has used the incidents “to highlight its existing enforcement policies, while also acknowledging that more must be done, even if the most pressing changes lie not in its own hands, but those of state regulators and lawmakers.” Here are notable comments from association leaders…

➤ NCAA Managing Director of Enterprise Risk Management Clint Hangebrauk: “There's only so much that's within our control. A lot of where we feel there is significant change that needs to happen to enhance the integrity of the games is really those in power of the betting markets to take a risk-based look of what's being offered there and try to look at those riskiest bets and get them off the market.”

➤ NCAA Managing Director of Enforcement Mark Hicks said the organization “has focused on making education free and accessible to all schools, including low/mid-major schools,” noting the enormity of the allegations will spark a dialogue between the organization and its member schools that will inform how these issues are tackled going forward.”

➤ Hicks adds: “We absolutely want to apply lessons learned to strategies that we have moving forward. [The indictments] will raise awareness, it will heighten the sense of importance. I think moments like this continue to galvanize people around the importance of staying vigilant and protecting the integrity of competition. That will drive some change in itself. I think it does start with truly understanding what happened.” (link)

North Carolina AD Bubba Cunningham, the sole college AD on the USOPC Board of Directors, emphasized the critical role of the collegiate model in fueling Team USA's success, noting that 75% of American athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics were current or former student-athletes. He adds: “It’s a great asset for our country, but there’s worry about the changes in college athletics. With revenue share, NIL, things like that, the USOPC is very concerned schools will start dropping Olympic sports." Cunningham also notes that “we’re all advocates in Washington, D.C., to try to figure out a way for colleges to continue to offer broad-based programming, but financially it’s becoming more difficult."
