Description

This position is responsible for serving as a strategic communicator, managing all aspects of media relations, communications, and statistical operations related to the athletic department.

Essential Job Duties

  • Oversee the division’s strategic communications strategy; 
  • Oversee all areas of the athletic website – roarlions.com – including daily updates; 
  • Assist in scheduling, planning, and generating content for all division-related social media platforms; 
  • Generate press releases and production of media notes;
  • Strategize with colleagues to promote noteworthy athletic stories and accomplishments;
  • Create, compile, edit, and digitize athletic publications; 
  • Hire, schedule, and supervise athletic department communication staff and student workers;
  • Manage gameday operations and staff scheduling in press box/media area for all sports;
  • Serve as official statistician at home athletic events; 
  • Coordinate with ASUN and NCAA on weekly and seasonal awards;
  • Handle credentialing for home athletic events; 
  • Schedule and administer media conferences with coaches and student-athletes; 
  • Travel on behalf of the division to athletic events and conferences as needed; 
  • Research records and historical data on athletic teams; 
  • Collaborate in the management of the UNA Athletic Hall of Fame;
  • Collaborate with the creative services, marketing, and broadcasts teams; 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets;
  • Manage financial budgets and purchases related to athletic communications; 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
    • Serve as media coordinator for events hosted by the division; 
    • Gather and support content for video production;
    • Communicate all statistical software needs and interactions for the production team for live game day broadcasts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required;
  • Master’s degree is preferred;
  • Minimum of five years of related experience is required.
