CHESTER, Pa. – Concluding a season as an Interim Head Coach, Sophie Bass' interim title has been removed as announced by Widener Athletics.

The Pride went 11-8 in the 2023 season with a 5-3 MAC Commonwealth record. In the 11 wins, Bass led the Pride to MAC Commonwealth semifinal matchup where they fell to nationally-ranked York College.

With Bass at the reign, Widener accumulated 205 goals with 35 being on free position opportunities, 367 ground balls, and 160 caused turnovers.

Bass coached, mentored, and developed five All-MAC Commonwealth recipients, a Widener All-Time Caused Turnover record holder, and an IWLCA All-Region team member. Among the five All-MAC recipients (Kaely Cristello – First Team, Clark Trowbridge – First Team, Katie Ward – Second Team, Jamie DeHaven – Second Team, and Makayla Cox – Honorable Mention), Bass has also seen the development of former Pride players Amber Bretz and Maddie Medve while serving as an assistant.

The native of Westfield, N.J. previously served as an assistant coach for the Pride for four years and received her Masters in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2021.
