PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Johnson announced that Tom Westhoff has joined the Gorillas' administrative staff as Associate Athletic Director for Financial Operations.
 
Westhoff, a 16-year PSU employee, is transitioning to the athletic department after serving in a variety of roles in the PSU Housing Department since July 2006.

"We are really excited to have Tom join our staff," Johnson said. "He will fill a long-needed void in regards to managing our overall financial operations. As intercollegiate athletics continues to evolve, it has become a significant challenge to manage revenues and expenses in real time. Tom has great experience in this realm of managing these types of large auxiliary operations in a very efficient and creative manner. We look forward to what he can do to help our staff and our coaches manage these resources to provide a great experience for our student-athletes and other constituents."

In this role, Westhoff will serve as the primary administrator to manage and organize all revenue streams, including those from private sources and organize and manage all corresponding expenditures. This includes oversight of finances for personnel, operations, scholarships and facilities.
 
Westhoff came to campus in 2006 as an Accountant II for PSU Housing. He became Assistant Director of Housing Operations in 2011 and most recently was elevated to the role of Director of Housing Administration in 2021.

"I am really looking forward to the move to Intercollegiate Athletics," Westhoff said. "It will be a challenge but a welcomed one, especially with the great co-workers and leadership in Athletics."

A native of St. Paul, Kan., Tom earned a bachelor's degree in management from PSU in 1994 and a master's of business administration (MBA) in 2017. His wife, Alicia, is a double PSU graduate, earning her bachelor's degree in 1994 and master's degree in 2011.

Tom and Alicia have a daughter, Anna, who will be attending PSU in Fall 2023, and a son, Michael, who attends St. Mary's-Colgan High School. The Westhoffs reside in rural Oronogo, Mo.
