Colorado is “targeting” New Mexico AD Fernando Lovo to become the next AD in Boulder, per Yahoo's Ross Dellenger, who adds: “No deal is finalized and UC Board of Regents must authorize any move.” (link) 

The Albuquerque Journal’s Geoff Grammer writes on Lovo’s potential exit for Colorado after just over one year leading New Mexico: “The Journal confirmed with multiple sources in and around UNM — both within and outside the athletics department — that Lovo to Colorado appears to be a done deal, though the AD has not returned messages from the Journal.” Grammer goes on to point out Lovo may owe UNM up to $800K as a buyout & there’s a notable provision in the new extension for Lobos Football HC Jason Eck: “The new contract for Eck, who has been rumored for numerous head coaching vacancies, takes effect Jan. 1 and there would be a $4 million buyout if he were to leave before Dec. 31, 2026. But, if Lovo is gone for any reason, that buyout drops to $2 million. The clause holds true for 12 months from the day Lovo officially leaves UNM, but stays at $4 million if Eck leaves for a job wherever Lovo is employed.” (link) 

Georgia AD Josh Brooks has agreed to a one-year contract extension through June 30, 2031, with his total compensation for this academic year rising from $1.375M to $1.5M and base salary increasing by $125K annually over the term. The deal boosts his six-year average compensation to $1.75M and raises his maximum bonus potential to $400K based on Learfield Directors' Cup finishes and academic performance. Despite the raise, UGA President Jere Morehead noted Brooks remains "at or below the median" of SEC peers. This marks Brooks' third consecutive annual extension, following a year where Georgia captured national titles in women’s track, women’s tennis, and equestrian. (link)

The Athletic's Stewart Mandel & Ralph Russo caught up with agents, leaders of collectives & GMs to get a sense of how some departments are working around the $20.5M revenue share cap. Four examples: “1) Say a school agrees to pay a player $200,000. If his agent is taking a 20 percent commission, then in reality, he’s making $160,000. So, the collective pays the agent his fee directly, and the program saves $40,000 in cap space; 2) Say a school promises a player $200,000, and wants to split it between rev-share and the collective, but it fears that CSC won’t approve a $100,000 collective deal. The parties agree to the amount verbally, then the collective submits smaller deals throughout the year (for autograph signings, charity appearances, etc.) that eventually add up to the total; 3) It’s believed that at least one school’s collective paid their entire incoming freshman class what they would have earned in rev share, so that the payments don’t get counted against the cap; and, 4) And then there’s the simplest, but riskiest, workaround of all: Just don’t report the deals. Which was probably happening already.” (link)

The overall Division I jobs market has plummeted 52.88% in 2025, including 33.30% drops on the industry’s longtime staple, the NCAA Jobs Marketplace.
