Kent State Signs Coach Rob Marinaro to Contract Extension

KENT, Ohio - Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Randale L. Richmond has announced a three-year contract extension for head women's soccer coach Rob Marinaro.

The extension will keep Mariano on the Kent State sidelines through the 2025-26 season. The three-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year completed his 22nd season as head coach at Kent State in 2022.

"Coach Rob Marinaro is synonymous with Kent State women's soccer and I am excited that he will continue to lead our women's program for years to come," Richmond said. "He's been a staple of leadership within the athletics department as well as among his peers. His program has had continued success in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. Rob epitomizes our mission to graduate student-athletes, boldly prepared for life after sport and win championships."

This past season, Marinaro became the third coach in MAC history to win 200 games at one school with a 1-0 victory over Bowling Green. He has guided the Golden Flashes to 12 seasons with double-digit wins and three regular-season and East Division titles.

"Not many coaches have this special opportunity to continue to lead a program at an institution and in a community they love for over two decades," Marinaro said. "I would like to thank President Todd Diacon and Athletic Director Randale Richmond, their visionary leadership, belief and support in our program is unprecedented in the current landscape of college athletics. I would also like to thank and acknowledge the support of Suzette McQueen and our coaching staff who help me daily move the program forward.  I look forward to many more years developing phenomenal young women and competing for championships."

The Flashes have shined off the pitch as well under Marinaro. This past season, the women's soccer team posted 874 service hours, the third most amongst NCAA Division I women's soccer programs. The team also participated in the Team IMPACT program, signing Ohio native Zoe to become an official member of the team. In the classroom, over three-fourths of the team earned a spot on the President's or Dean's List this past semester.
