Coleman Announces Changes to Baseball Program

SAN ANTONIO – St. Mary's University Executive Director of Athletics Robert Coleman on Thursday announced that after two seasons of leading the Baseball team, Head Coach Chris Ermis has decided to step down from his position.

Ermis went 48-56 in his two campaigns at the helm with a pair of Lone Star Conference Tournament appearances. He also served as an assistant coach at StMU for 25 years, producing nine All-American pitchers and was an integral part of the 2001 National Championship team.

"I want to thank Chris for his service and contributions to the St. Mary's athletic department over the past 27 years," said Coleman. "He represented the University with a high level of character and integrity.  We are grateful for his contributions to our program on and off the field and we wish him and his family the very best in the future."

The Rattlers will begin a national search immediately for a new head coach. Michael Cavazos will serve as the acting head coach in the interim.
