5/31/2023 12:00:00 PM

George VanderZwaag, University of Rochester Executive Director of Athletics, announced today that head softball coach Margaret Yerdon-Grange will be departing her post, effective June 30, 2023.

In 2023, her team set a new program record with 38 wins, finishing with a 38-9 mark overall. The Yellowjackets claimed their third straight Liberty League title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the tenth time in program history. During the middle of the season, Rochester set a new school record with 24 wins in a row.

"I am grateful for the dedication Margaret has brought to our softball program for the past 14 years," said VanderZwaag. "She has built a foundation of success for the future of the program."

Yerdon-Grange was named the head softball coach in July 2009 and has led the program to twelve 20-plus win seasons. Rochester has appeared in the NCAA Division III Tournament seven times, twice reaching the NCAA finals site (top-8) in 2014 and 2021.

Three individuals claimed All-America honors since 2009 and two others were named Academic All-Americans. Rochester earned seven Liberty League titles in the last 14 years and garnered over 100 Liberty League accolades during that span, including receiving four conference Player of the Year honors, three Pitcher of the Year honors, five Rookie of the Year honors and three Coaching Staff of the Year awards.

Prior to becoming head coach, Yerdon-Grange was Rochester softball's assistant coach for five seasons.

A national search will begin immediately for the softball head coach position.
