Alumnus Charles Named Next Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach

LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph College Director of Athletics Tom Galbraith announced today that Randolph alumnus and former student-athlete and assistant coach Prince Charles has been selected the next head coach of the WildCats women's lacrosse team.

"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Charles back to his alma mater to serve as head coach of the women's lacrosse program," Galbraith said. "His energy and passion for the game, plus his proven successful focus on recruiting student-athletes at both Randolph and Virginia Wesleyan will prove pivotal in growing our program."

Charles returns to Randolph from ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan where he has been the assistant coach with the men's lacrosse program for the past two years. He has also been the head coach of both the 757 Select Lacrosse Team and FCA Lacrosse in Virginia Beach. He was an assistant coach at Princess Anne High School from 2020-2022. Prior to his time with the Cavaliers, he was an assistant coach with the Randolph men's program from 2019-2021.

"Returning to my college home is an incredible privilege," said Charles. "I understand that being head coach now presents a new list of challenges including helping build a program to stand the test of time. I am looking forward to creating a solid culture for WildCats past, present, and future to carry on and be proud of for years to come."

Charles played four years with the 'Cats as a midfielder and face-off specialist. He holds the program career record in groundballs with 364 and faceoff winning percentage of .568. In his senior year, he set the single season record of 130 groundballs. Charles was named to the 2018 All-ODAC third-team after leading the ODAC in ground balls (118) and the WildCats in goals (19).

"It feels like home," said Charles on returning to his alma mater. "I have been blessed to have been given life changing opportunities from this place, and what I intend to give back are those same blessings."

Charles graduated from Randolph in 2020 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Studies with a focus in Coaching and Sport Leadership. He is currently the CEO and founder of Prince Charles Lacrosse where he provides personal coaching and well as stringing services for young lacrosse players.
