CHESTER, Pa. – After a season under the title of men's lacrosse Interim Head Coach, Widener Athletics has announced that
Robb Chambers will have the interim tag removed and will be elevated to head coach.
The Pride went 8-8 in the 2023 regular season (5-3 in MAC play) and 1-1 in the postseason. Chambers led the team to a conference semifinals before falling to nationally-ranked York College.
Under Chambers' leadership, Widener accumulated a 7-4 home record. Throughout the season the Pride scored 253 goals, picked up 573 ground balls, and caused 200 turnovers.
The 2023 season saw four players named to the All-MAC Commonwealth teams.
Connor Heisman was named First Team Attack.
Wesley Sporer received First Team Midfield.
Drew Venit received Second Team Defender and
Angus Ballentine was awarded Honorable Mention Short-Stick Specialist. Sporer also made an appearance in the USILA North-South All-Star game this postseason
Before joining Widener originally as an assistant coach, Chambers spent three years as an assistant coach at his high school alma mater, the Shipley School, in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Chambers is a native of Berwyn, Pa.
