MADISON, N.J. – Julian Diaz has been named men's volleyball head coach at Drew University, Director of Volleyball Alyssa Broccoli has announced.

No stranger at the Forest, Diaz takes over after serving as an assistant coach for the Rangers this past season. In addition, he has gained extensive coaching experience over the last several years through numerous additional volleyball teams in the area.

"I would like to thank [Director of Athletics] Christa Racine and the rest of the search committee for this amazing opportunity," said Diaz. "I'm looking forward helping Drew Volleyball grow while making a positive impact on our student-athletes."

Since 2021, Diaz has served as the head boys volleyball coach at Donald Payne Tech High School, where he has also worked as an assistant girls volleyball coach since 2020. Additionally, Diaz has served as a director and head coach for Nike Volleyball Camps since 2020.

This past winter, Diaz was honored as one of just 18 recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Diversity Award.

Diaz graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.

"I aim to get the best out of my players through positivity and encouragement," added Diaz. "It's about loving the sport of volleyball and enjoying yourself every day. With a positive attitude we will succeed."

The Rangers completed their second season as a varsity men's volleyball team this past year and finished with nine victories. Nine of the team's 11 players will return next season.
