Queens Athletics Unveils New Branding

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Royals are ready to head into their second year in NCAA Division I and are building excitement around the season by launching a new branding initiative that continues to elevate its reputation of excellence.
The first sign of the new branding, an updated graphic featuring Queens mascot Rex the Lion, appears on the newly refinished courts of Curry Arena, home of Queens basketball, volleyball, and wrestling.

The new branding captures the program's legacy while still propelling its Athletics forward and reflecting the university's new status as a Division I competitor.

"Revitalizing our brand is an important part of our strategy to fuel our growth and to elevate the university overall," said Cherie Swarthout, Queens University director of athletics.

The new Athletics marks incorporate variations that will allow Queens Athletics to be distinctive across collegiate athletics, bringing new energy to its brand. The marks will be seen across a variety of Athletics-related items including uniforms, signage, graphics, and more.

The new marks also make use of the acronym "QUC," and uses a naming variation – "Queens University Charlotte" – to be used by the Athletics program. The branding also includes a unique new font to be featured on Athletics uniforms and bold elements such as eye-catching colors, including an Athletics-specific Royal Blue.

Queens University Charlotte Athletics will be rolling out a new website in the fall that will include the new brand marks. In addition, newly branded merchandise with the Athletics marks will be available at the Queens University bookstore in the fall.
"We've celebrated every milestone on our DI journey with our 'Be the First' campaign because we know that we are making history here at Queens," said Swarthout. "There is an energy and excitement on campus and in the community that fuels our momentum and inspires our Royals to rise above our competitors."

The Athletics rebrand coincides with a new institutional branding initiative for Queens University, which was rolled out in March. It also coincides with the 35th anniversary of intercollegiate, co-ed athletics and the 10th anniversary of the Levine Center for Wellness and Recreation, home of Curry Arena.
