From interim AD to permanent AD in quick fashion, LSU has a new full-time boss in Verge Ausberry. (link); Meanwhile, new LSU President Wade Rousse on contract dynamics for the next Football HC in Baton Rouge: “I do support the idea that we're going to try to base contracts on incentive base, or contracts are going to be based on incentives and how we win and how does that work and how we get paid based on winning. I'd like to think we could do that in our athletics contracts. We all know the market's the market. We are very determined to go find the absolute best coach there is to come take the best coaching job in America and come lead us to our next national championship. We have a global brand that's mostly driven by what happens in Tiger Stadium. Massachusetts selects Rhode Island AD Thorr Bjorn as its new Senior Deputy AD/Chief Administrative Officer. Bjorn, a UMass football alum, will serve as the sport administrator for the Minutemen football program and assist with a number of external units. ESPN’s Pete Thamel broke the news earlier today. LSU clarifies it’s moving forward with Verge Ausberry as permanent AD with a source in the president’s office telling LouisianaSports.net’s Matt Moscona: “Verge Ausberry is THE athletic director at LSU. Period. There is no intent or desire to play word games with this issue. Athletics needs a stable hand at the helm, and that is Verge Ausberry. Verge is fully empowered to find our next football coach and to run the athletic department.” The source also added “there are no plans to conduct a search for a new athletic director once the football coach is hired.” (link) 

UNC Asheville AD Janet Cone secures a contract extension that could keep her leading the Bulldogs through May 2027. Chancellor Kimberly van Noort: “Under her leadership, UNC Asheville's athletic program has flourished—our student-athletes continue to excel both in competition and the classroom. Her ongoing commitment is essential to the future success of our university.” (link) 

Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger reports Texas Tech Board of Regents Chair Cody Campbell has received commitments from House and Senate leaders to hold hearings on the Sports Broadcasting Act. Campbell has reportedly shifted his opinion on federal legislation, “supporting the passage of the SCORE Act, something that could happen as soon as the government returns from what is now a more than 30-day shutdown. When or if the SCORE Act reaches the Senate — where many believe it will die without major changes — Campbell hopes the legislation will be combined with the Democrat-backed SAFE Act, a bill authored by Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and one that opens the Sports Broadcasting Act.” (link)
