Chris Panos Steps Down as Queens Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Chris Panos has resigned as head men's lacrosse coach at Queens University of Charlotte, Queens Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout announced today.

"I would like to thank Coach Panos for his time, leadership, and commitment to shape our lacrosse program these past seven years," Swarthout stated. "During his time, we saw our lacrosse program deliver on the field, inside the classroom, and in the community.  We wish Chris all the best with his future endeavors."

Panos was named head coach of the men's lacrosse program ahead of the 2019 season after serving two years as an assistant coach with the team. In that time, the Royals compiled a 39-28 record. Prior to this year's inaugural NCAA Division I season, Panos coached the Royals to a 37-16 record at the DII level, seeing their best season in 2019 when the Royals went 13-5 to make their second NCAA Championship appearance in program history.

Under Panos' leadership, the Royals have had 16 student-athletes earn SAC All-Conference honors while two have earned USILA DII All-American honors.

"I would like to sincerely thank Cherie Swarthout for the opportunity to lead the Queens men's lacrosse program for the past five years," Panos commented. "It's been an honor and a privilege to serve Queens and the greater Charlotte community. I look forward to watching the Royals Rise in athletics and wish the University much success."

The Royals wrapped their first regular season in the ASUN Conference over the weekend.

A search will begin immediately for the Royals' next head coach.
