Began at Auburn: September 1998

Education: Sampson received a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in communication from the University of Iowa in 1992. Received his master’s degree in athletic administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1995.

Job Responsibilities: Oversees the Athletics Communications staff  that assists the athletics department in the publicity, communications and media relations of the program’s 21 varsity sports.

Past Experience: Sampson came to Auburn after serving as the Director of Media Relations for the Philadelphia Rage of the American Basketball League in 1997-98. Worked as a graduate assistant in the University of Tennessee Women’s Athletics Department from 1994-96. Worked as a student assistant in the University of Iowa Sports Marketing Department as well as the Iowa Women’s Sports Information Office. Also interned in the University of Minnesota Women’s Sports Promotions Department.

Personal: A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, Sampson and his wife, Lisa, have two boys, Hayes and Jake.
