JASA PASSES $2 MILLION FOR FIRST TIME

The 2023 Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction shattered records for attendance and money raised, eclipsing the $2 million mark for the first time.

More than 1,000 people attended the April 29 event at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the South Dakota State University campus. The event generated $2,092,665 for student-athlete scholarship thanks in large part to a 2-for-1 matching gift from an anonymous donor. That total was nearly a half-million dollars more than the previous record of $1.59 million set a year ago, and marked the sixth consecutive year of surpassing the $1 million mark.

"To be able to take care of half of our annual scholarship bill in one evening while being able to gather in one place with so many of our fans and friends makes the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction such a special event," Director of Athletics Justin Sell said. "The competitive success of our entire athletics program is a direct reflection of the excitement and generosity this event has become known for."

More than 500 auction items were up for bids between silent and live auctions.
