LOGAN, Utah – Tony Hearrell, a member of the Utah State Athletics' compliance staff since March 2018, has been promoted to the position of associate athletics director for compliance, it was announced Tuesday.

"We are excited to promote from within and elevate Tony Hearrell to associate athletics director for compliance," said Amy Crosbie, the senior associate AD for student-athlete support services/senior woman administrator at Utah State. "He has been a valuable part of our staff for the past five years. His passion for collegiate athletics and NCAA compliance experience will continue to be a great asset to our student-athletes and coaches."

In his new role, Hearrell will have direct leadership and oversight of Utah State's compliance program in accordance with the NCAA and Mountain West rules. His primary responsibilities include risk management monitoring, preparing and submitting NCAA and Mountain West waivers, investigating and submitting violations, while also reviewing and updating policies and procedures.

Additionally, Hearrell will maintain the day-to-day operations of the compliance office by overseeing rules education, rules interpretations and financial aid for all 16 of Utah State's intercollegiate sports.

Prior to joining the athletics department, Hearrell spent six months as a compliance intern at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Hearrell graduated with honors from Mars Hill College in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. During this time, he was also a student-athlete in the baseball program. He then continued his education at Coker College, earning a master's degree in collegiate athletic administration in 2018.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Hearrell and his wife, Kelsey, have one daughter, Fenley Grace.
